  • Deep Tissue & Therapeutic Massage Therapy is the use of manual techniques to normalize the soft tissue of the body. It is used to help restore processes of the body and reduce muscle tension.

It relieves pain, increases flexibility and mobility, and helps clear lactic acid and other waste, which reduces pain and stiffness in muscles and joints. Swedish massage is a “feel good” stress releasing technique whereas deep tissue is used to get deeper into the tissue to help make lasting changes. Therapeutic massage is used for chronic pain areas or areas of the body that have been injured.

During a session a client is unclothed to the level of their comfort. The client is only undraped in the area the therapist is working otherwise the client is covered with a sheet and a blanket. The front midsection is never undraped.

During a massage the therapist may use a tool called MPT. This technique uses a device called a Dolphin Neurostim unit pictured here. It is a microcurrent electrical stimulator. It has the tip the size of a ball point pen. It uses the microcurrent electrical output to get deeper into the tissue of the body, deeper than the therapists fingers can get to. MPT or Microcurrent Positional Technique combines the microcurrent tool with a modified use of an Oriental massage technique called tuina. The therapist will hold the point on the body that is in pain or has tension with one finger and then will use the Dolphin Neurostim in the other hand to help release the muscle, tendon, or tissue. It is useful for pain relief, tension release, and with joint range of motion.
